Gyr sightings



For any would-be Gyr-spotters, this map shows all reported sightings to date (updated 19th Dec). Note Andrew's original sighting is the most north-western of the arrows shown and the red circle shows where the bird was seen perched yesterday. For square-bashers, so far the bird's been seen in SS48P and SS48T [and today SS48Y], but it does seem likely that it may also have another feeding area somewhere to the north-west, possibly Llangennith Moors, as it has been seen flying off strongly in this direction a few times. Today bird seen just before 13:00hrs and around 13:40hrs (calls/texts from Wendell Thomas, Dave Gilmore & Owen Leyshon).

Afternoon sightings today included another observation of the bird on a kill, more towards Penrice, though no exact details (call from Rob Jones)...
