Garnwen today on the E/W glam border near Maesteg.

               Black darter
                Leptura rubra
                Tachina grossa
                   Tachina grossa.

This fly is a bit of a monster in other ways too; its name is Tachina grossa (a Tachinid fly) and it lays its eggs on living lepidopteran larvae - a nasty monster!

The fly is Tachina grossa, and it is a parasite on various large moths, if I remember correctly. It`s an ugly blighter!
