Gold in Gwent!

Common Yellowthroat in Gwent
Not quite gold but very bright yellow! If you can make the trip and the bird stays for a while, it'll be well worth it. Hopefully it will come west in the springtime; Oxwich is due a Mega! I'll post directions in comments.

do not park at Rhiwderin Community Centre or in pub car parks. At Bryn Hedydd, turn off A468 onto Caerphilly Close and park sensibly as far down the road as possible and respect residents' privacy. Cross stile into fields to west, entry £1 ST262870

Mark - seen your video via the GBC sightings - as the guy said in "Life of Brian" - "you lucky lucky b*****d!" :-) I spent 4 hrs with not a sniff on Monday. May go again 2moro if time permits. From your vid it looks as tho' it was in the hedgerow where there's a wet ditch running downhill toa oggy area by a stile?

I parked in Caerphilly Close. From there over the style and left following the hedge at the bottom of the hill to the next field over. It was in this field all the morning I was there. It was first seen in the hedge at the highest point of the field and slowly worked its way towards the wood as far as the small hay pile. It then flew back to the top of the same field but this time woked it's way along the hedge that runs down the hill back towards the houses. It did go missing for prolonged periods but was rarely far away from where it had been seen last.
Most of the photos and in my video show it right in the open but it liked being down low on the ground mostly hidden but when on view it was often just on the edge of the long grass, bracken or brambles. Good luck John I hope you get it.
