Grey Phalarope at Eglwys

The Phalarope Man aka George Morgan lived up to his nickname by finding yet another Phalarope! George found a juvenile Grey Phalarope right by the entrance in the North-east corner of the reservoir. Conditions were a little choppy but I did manage to take a bit of footage of this cracking little wader. Cheers George on another very nice find!

Great footage Mark, in what must have been challenging conditions! Super little bird!

Still present this morning where it was so close it was touchable if you'd gone over the barrier

Yeah the main problem yesterday was the bird was too close. I didn't realise you were listing Kenfig this year Neil. I'll keep you informed of the more mediocre stuff at Eglwys from now on. It will be interesting to know if my NPT list will have any chance against your patch? This Grey Phal was 149 but I'm hoping for 165. What are you on and what are you hopimg for?

Hi Mark - I tend to year list the reserve most years to be honest as it gives me the incentive to get out. I'm currently on 147 but still missing some quite common stuff. My all time record for the reserve is 165 so obviously hoping to get somewhere near that.
