Sandra and myself checked out the Wildlife Trust site at Kilvrough Woods for Herb-paris (Paris quadrifolia) yesterday and found two clumps in a relatively small area. There were about 40 shoots in each clump, several of which were of the five-leaved type. There was also plenty of Twayblade (Listera ovata) coming into flower in the valley, the vegetation here being a classic example of the NVC type W8f Fraxinus excelsior-Acer campestre-Mercurialis perennis woodland: Allium ursinum communty (i.e. Ash woodland with with Ramsons or Wild Garlic dominating the field layer).
