There were Whimbrel littered all over the place, at Crymlyn Burrows, today. Most were at the waters edge on the beach, but small numbers were found searching for food in the longer grass and saltmash areas.
I counted 146 Whimbrel in total and there were also 5 Bar-tailed Godwit mixed in.
Some nice counts of smaller waders were present on the beach. The good numbers quickened my heart-rate a bit in the hope that maybe the Kentish Plover was amongst them. After numerous scans I found Sanderling(134), Dunlin(107) and Ringed Plover(48).
The video shows a Bar-tailed Godwit going into summer plumage with a couple of Whimbrel
