WWT's turn for a 'double'

Following hot on the heels of the Glossy Ibis seen at WWT on the weekend, this Pectoral Sandpiper was picked out by Wayne Davies on the same pool just north of the British Steel Hide. Digiscope montage showing all the angles, but hopefully Wayne will have a better shot.

How is the wetland here managed? It looks like the rush behind the bird has been mown but if the wetland is suitable for a pec and an ibis it must be too wet for a tractor.

There's Soft Rush around the edges and a swathe across the shallow centre of the this pond. The edges and a section from the middle swathe were strimmed last week to improve viewing. Seems to have been a resounding success.

The weat is the best at the moment, some cracking birds turning up and being found
