yesterday at Crymlyn Burrows

Very few insects at Pant Y Sais fen much to my surprise! A trip to Crymlyn Burows proved much more rewarding.

Ammophila sabulosa: a caterpillar hunting wasp, as proven below

Must be like walking down the street with a double mattress between your legs!

Episyron rufipes: a spider hunting wasp which specialises in taking orb web spiders.

That sand wasp Ammophila occurs here on the Yaverland, IoW cliffs too but I've yet to see one carrying the prey - great shot.

Full on predator action Ian - You'd think the spider would have killed the wasp!

Great photos Ian and some nice records for CB.
