Narrow-leaved Ash (Fraxinus angustifolia) was found to be locally frequent in the species-rich hedgerows around Penllergaer. Note the very long terminal leaflet of this poorly recorded non-native species. Native Ash shown for comparison.
This was the first Cory's Shearwater to be seen in West Glamorgan since 28 July 1990 when one was seen off Port Eynon Point. Sadly the bird was picked up exhausted from Swansea Docks Ind. Est. and although given excellent care at the Gower Bird Hospital it failed to make the grade.
Ivy-leaved Bellflower (Wahlenbergia hederacea) was found to be locally frequent in the remnants of flushed, sheep-grazed pasture in Cwmdulais (SN618036). Much of this valley now being cloaked by Rhododendron.
