Tree nesting House Sparrows

Simon Allen of the Gower Bird Hospital sent me this image of a House Sparrow nest in a Hawthorn bush. Simon said that 'they build one there every year and that they started building this one in February. A traditional nest I suppose although they prefer not to use this one and opt for the roof of the chalet instead. Maybe it’s a ceremonial nest paying homage to their ancestors in a time before people built houses :o)'
