Had a quick look around Wildlife Trust of S & W Wales Ffrwd Farm Mire Nature Reserve, Pembrey this rainy morning and came across a melanistic pregnant common lizard (Zootoca vivipara). Not seen very often but these mutations do turn up.
Here is a normal looking pregnant female which was basking a few metres away from the 'freak'.

Wow Mark, that really is a sinister looking reptile! I've never seen one that like before - any idea what percentage of the population is of this form?
