Convolvulus Hawk-moth

Clearly it’s the season for big insects. Another one to keep an eye out for is the Convolvulous Hawk-moth which is a regular but uncommon migrant to our shores. The individual shown was found by Steffan Tyrell whilst pulling ragwort at Llangennith on August 22nd and was photographed by his mum Allison.

I found another one of these in my garden in Mount Pleasant yesterday morning, what a beauty!
